James Reese
James Reese, TigerSwan’s Chairman, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, is a twenty-five-year United States Army veteran and a former member of the Delta Force. He’s a Mansfield University graduate who spoke with Mansfield’s President about locating students who could grow and learn from a hands-on opportunity with TigerSwan. He was connected with John Golden, who spent the upcoming summer working at the TigerSwan headquarters.

“Mostly what I did was research and writing for the company for different ventures and business opportunities all around the world,” he said. “I had the opportunity to sit in on some business meetings with potential clients, both foreign and domestic. . . It was definitely interesting to see where Mansfield students can go after they graduate. Colonel Reese is a perfect example of that and this is also a great example of how alumni can give back to the university.”

TigerSwan Training

In 2017, author Marcus Amick embarked on an excursion with Chevrolet and members of the TigerSwan team. The event was held at a “a tactical training facility in North Carolina, included everything from experiencing a simulated hostage rescue mission where live ammunition was being fired to us personally trying our hand at shooting a practice target some 800 meters in the distance with a long-range rifle.”

The experience specifically highlighted the usefulness of the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban, but Mr. Amick certainly got a taste of tactical training.

“Having a chance to go through a few shooting exercises, trying to eye a perfectly still metal breast plate through a gun scope,” wrote Amick when reflecting on his TigerSwan training, “gives you an entirely new perspective on why the most extreme level of discipline is such a fundamental part of special military operations.”

TigerSwan: Combat Leadership Lessons

TigerSwan, LLC, is a Crisis Management and Global Stability firm headquartered in Apex, North Carolina, with operations on five continents. It was founded by a retired member of the United States Delta Force in 2008 and employs highly-trained team members to protect and secure clients around the world. Crisis leadership is just one of the many skills required of a TigerSwan team member, but it is among the most valuable. If you travel or otherwise spend time in high-risk, politically-sensitive areas, crisis leadership lessons like these can help you stay safe when faced with an emergency:

·         The Time to Prepare is Now

To succeed in an emergency, you need to prepare your body, mind and team. For most of us, we don’t have a team to train, but we do have ourselves. Maintaining your physical and mental health, and engaging in tactical or military training, will help you confront and conquer potential problems in the future.

·         If You Don’t Know, Ask

Should a crisis occur and you find yourself accepting roles, like administering CPR to victims or leading a group to safety, don’t feign knowledge. If you don’t know how to do something or are otherwise lacking information, ask. There’s no shame in admitting a lack of knowledge.
